It's Friday, time to deliver another Steinway!

The end of the week is here and it's time to make another customer happy. We rebuilt this gorgeous 1906 Steinway & Sons grand model "B" in 2001 but now the customer is moving. She didn't want anybody else to move the piano so we actually decided to bring the piano into the shop, touch up the case a little bit, inspect everything, then send it off. We were very pleased to see that the pins are starting to settle in, and are still very tight. The piano has an amazingly wonderful sounding bass and deep sonority sound! Here's a few pics of the piano.

Back to work! Bring on the Steinway's!

We're very excited to be back to work this week! On Tuesday (tomorrow) we are traveling down to South Carolina to deliver a gorgeous sounding, rebuilt and refinished ebony Steinway & Sons grand piano model "O"!

This piano has an exceptionally sweet tone and touch. The whippens and shanks are in remarkably good shape and did not require replacing. The hammers, however, were borderline so we decided to replace them. The ivories on this piano are like new, preserving the classic Steinway feel and touch. It's pianos like this that are our inspiration.

On our way down to South Carolina, we are stopping in Virginia to pick up a rare Steinway & Sons grand model "A" 6'4.5"! Steinway manufactured this 6'4.5" "A" for only a period of about 15 years in the late 20's, 30's, and early 40's. It is one of the best pianos that Steinway ever made, and we are looking forward to rebuilding this one. Most Steinway A's are 6'1" and really are the piano that gave Steinway their reputation. At one time the 6'1" "A" was the smallest piano that Steinway made. Here is a picture of a Steinway "A" that we just finished rebuilding and are selling.

At the time of the turn of the 20th century, they made "A", "B", "C" and "D" which corresponded to 6', 7', 8', and 9'. As more people could afford pianos, Steinway made 3 "miniature" grands; the "S" (small), the "M" (medium), and the "O" (oversized). The "O" was subsequently changed to the model "L".

We are really looking forward to getting our hands on this "A", as they are gorgeous! Check back for pictures and updates on this piano!
